James Cassano
General Partner
James Cassano is a General Partner of
Jaguar Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm; Executive
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Jaguar Acquisition
Corporation, a public company (NASDAQ: JGACU.OB) formed to effect
a merger, capital stock exchange or asset acquisition with an
operating business in the financial services and payments industry;
and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Jaguar
Acquisition Corporation II, a company formed to effect a merger
or capital stock exchange in China.
Mr. Cassano is a three-time CEO with broad experience managing
growth businesses and turnaround situations. He has in-depth,
hands-on skills in operations, venture capital, financial, corporate
development, acquisitions and divestitures. He is also adept at
negotiating strategic alliances, business restructuring, and adapting
business models to new business realities in the U.S., UK and
Europe.
Before forming Jaguar Capital Partners, Mr. Cassano was Chairman
and CEO of New Forum Publishers, Inc., an educational content
producer that he founded. He sold the company to Apex Learning,
Inc. of Seattle and served as a member of the Board of Directors
of the combined companies through 2006.
Previously, Mr. Cassano co-founded and was Chairman and CEO of
an electronic entertainment transaction company that provided
ticketing services to the arts and entertainment industries. The
company, which went public in 1999 as Tickets.com, experienced
significant growth under Mr. Cassano, with gross revenues of more
than $100 million and operations in over a thousand venues in
the U.S., Europe and the UK.
Mr. Cassano has also served as: Senior Vice President of Safeguard
Scientifics, Inc., a public venture capital organization; interim
Chairman and CEO of Laser Communications, Inc., a Safeguard company;
and Director with the Hay Group, Inc., a multi-national management
consulting company operating in 56 countries.
Currently, Mr. Cassano is a member of the Board of Directors of
PE Systems LLC, a specialty consulting and software firm focused
on
reducing merchant’s cost of accepting credit and debit cards.
Mr. Cassano started his career with Sikorsky Aircraft where he
was lead designer-analyst for more than 30 advanced aircraft concepts.
He holds a BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University
and an MBA from Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He was awarded a Wharton White House Fellowship.
